Last night I had the opportunity to see AWOLNATION at The Zone@91.3’s sold out Zone Show #231 at Club 9One9.
There was a lot of hype built up over many weeks before this show. You see, The Zone took a gamble playing AWOLNATION’s ‘Sail’ on their radio station and the song exploded. Their phones kept ringing everytime they played the song. There was so much buzz for this relatively unknown band signed by Red Bull Records that The Zone finally influenced their management to bring them for a show in Victoria.
Based on some of the live performance video I had seen on YouTube I had some reservations going in to the concert. A few videos posted from last year just didn’t sound very good. More recent clips showed vast improvement.
Anyway, the show was fantastic. The energy in the club was huge. I can’t remember the last time I was at a club show with so many people crowd surfing.
