Today I got a chance to check out Lola Parks perform in Victoria’s Centennial Square just behind the MacPherson Playhouse. Lola Parks is on the 2011 Rifflandia lineup and this was a prime (and free) opportunity to get a preview of what to expect. I’d been wanting to see her live since a couple co-workers got to know her when she was a waitress at a local pub and found out she was a musician.
Have to say I was rather impressed… and I was not the only one. While I was there I overheard a lot of people saying “I like her voice” or “her voice is so sweet.” Can’t argue with them. Anyway, she’s now on my list of people to see at Rifflandia. I wonder if she’ll have a full band with her. I always like to compare how an artist performs both acoustically and with a full band.
